Is Fear Stopping You From Living Your Dreams? Did you ever see the film The Blair Witch Project? I think it was the scariest film I’ve seen for a long time. The reason I think it was so frightening was it was left to the viewers imagination as to what happened. When they were standing in the dark, I was the one in the cinema saying “Don’t switch the torch on”. In the dark we can hide from our fears. But perhaps we need to turn a bright light on them to see them for what they really are. Is it our fear of the unknown that holds us back from making new changes in our life? There comes a time, maybe through a set of circumstances that we have to make changes and we have to let our fear go so it doesn’t take over our life. As in the film, some of our fear is all in the mind. Perhaps it’s because we lack the skills. But new skills can always be learnt. So perhaps it is a fear of failure and what others will think of us. If this is the case, you may need to change your thoughts. I am a great believer in positive thinking, because you are what you think. If you always think you can’t do something before you have even tried, then you have talked yourself into being a failure. What could be the worst thing that could happen if you try something and it doesn’t work? You try something else. The experience of trying means you have gain new skills, and the fear diminishes as your confidence grows. My suggestion is to face your fear, whatever it is, head-on. So if you have plans to start a new business, leisure activity, or to lose weight and get fit, I want you to do something about it. Take a small step towards what you want, and you will be taking a step away from your fear and apprehension. Positive thinking can only take you so far, you still need to take action. Each day take one small action and you will be on your way to making bigger changes in your life. Practice each day on seeing what your new life looks like. Once your brain can see what you want, you will find opportunities you never noticed before opening up to you. Your brain will see your vision as reality so make your vision bright and colourful. Make it look real and not a hazy daydream. So whatever triggers your fear factor, imagine confronting it head on and believe in yourself to conquer it. You have the capacity to do everything you want if you just put your mind to it. Face the thing you fear the most and you'll never have to fear anything again in your life.
